From MJ Dominey Fine Art! This year has been more than I could have hoped for. A huge shout out to the province of Québec, in particular Montreal, who gave me a great start in both painting and writing. I miss some very special people in Québec City, as well as the great 18th century building we had as a home. However, I can’t say I miss the extreme cold. When I arrived in Québec City I wasn’t sure I was going to survive the wind on Boulevard Honoré-Mercier. Anyone who has had to catch the 800 on that street knows what I am talking about. So hello to all my peeps on Rue Saint Louis, at the VEQ (Voice of English Speaking Québec) and Kirk Hall.
We chose the “south” of Canada in Ontario for lots of reasons, some of which were nothing more than a blind spin of the provincial map. I quickly scouted out the area for art opportunities and have been fortunate to be accepted into the local gallery, Something Else, which is now Andie’s Gallery & Boutique, as well as the Friends of Roselawn Christmas Market and their Evening at Roselawn juried auction event. This past year I’ve done exhibits at White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, hosted by the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, Art by the Lighthouse, also hosted by the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre, and the Carmel Fine Art and Music Festival in Niagara Falls, hosted by the Niagara Arts Showcase. With those events, and of course Facebook, my art has found its way across the country and in some cases the world. I love that you appreciate my work enough to buy it for yourselves or for friends and family. I hope they love their MJ Dominey paintings as much as I loved making them. Because of your generous support I am almost out of paintings! So thank you for that!! Soon I am off to my province of birth, Nova Scotia (how I miss the ocean) to see five of my favourite people, my kids, and a few close friends, for the holidays. When I return I look forward to creating new seascapes and mystical tree paintings that I hope you will love just as much. I have a whole series of beach scenes in mind as well. So happy holidays, if you celebrate, and if not then happy December! See you soon.
